The great Snake Escape...Part 3...The plot thickens.

Sparky has now been MIA for 2 days, but there is a little good news today.

I left out many traps to catch Sparky. I converted some mouse traps (the humane kind) and put a pinkie inside.

I also put some shed boxes in my room with a mouse in to get Sparky to stay in there where its nice and damp.

One of the boxes was place on a heat mat, as heat helps digest food quicker.

This morning i discovered one of the shed boxes had been visited by Sparky, the mouse i put in there was gone!! At least he has had a bit of food now! Which is a good sign. To bad he didn't stay in the box to digest his meal.

So i need to buy more pinkies and reset the traps in a couple of days.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, its just a matter of time.

The Great Snake Escape...Part 2.

So i had a restless night worrying about the snake.
I get up really early, snakes are more active at dawn and dusk, and continue my search for Sparky.
I turn my whole room inside out, empty under the bed, pull the wardrobe and draws away from the walls and have a monster search! still nothing!!

BUGGER!!

After a failed search i drive down the the Serpentarium and have a chat with Kevin (aka Reptile man)
We had a good chat about where he might go, do and be. I then rang mum and told her the bad news, Sparky is lose in the house. Mum thought it was hilarious!! I put the cats downstairs, Just in Case!
I am now having another frantic look around my room and the landing.

I will keep you posted!

The Great Snake Escape!!

So its 11:30pm and i am ready to get some much needed sleep.
I enter my room and check the snakes are ok, but i find a small gap at the door of the viv ...Oh crap!!
Panic sets in, i turn on the light to the tank to make sure everyone is there! i turn over the plants, water bowl and rummage through the wood chips. Indiana and Sparky have done a runner!!  PANIC!!!

The gap in the side of the tank is no bigger then my little finger!!

So i frantically and as quiets as possible as mum and vix are already in bed, start sorting out my room, lifting paper and checking in shoes. I should say my room is not as organised as it should be (normal teenager clutter!)
But i manage to find Indiana in my laptop bag unable to climb out! Thank god he was there as he is still only 10inches long!!
But still cant find Sparky.

So i frantically block the door with my dressing gown, a few box's and shoes. I then get a mouse and lay it in a box, with a hole in, under my hat, and hope he will eat it in the night. I have a quick check in my bed(Just in case) and attempt to get some sleep.

First feed of the year

Angel managed to eat a small mouse today, she must have been hungry as she went for it straight away!!

Mmmmm Tasty!!

Time to wake up

Its that time of year again.
Spring is almost upon us. which means JD and Angel need to wake up and start eating ready for the breeding season.

About a week ago i started to put the heat mats on for a few hours each day, and gradually turn up the heat.
Yesterday i turned on the lights, only for a few hours so the snakes wouldn't be shocked by all the light and heat.

I will try to feed them later on today.
